Horizontal fence panels have become increasingly popular in garden design, offering a modern alternative to traditional vertical fencing. Their clean, straight lines suit both contemporary and traditional gardens, whether you're replacing an existing boundary or creating a more private outdoor space.
At Slatted, we manufacture horizontal slatted fence panels at our Sheffield workshop using high-quality, pressure-treated softwood. Our panels are available in single- and double-sided designs, with different heights to suit a wide range of gardens.

Why Choose Horizontal Fence Panels?
Horizontal fencing can noticeably improve your garden's appearance. The continuous timber slats create a neat, consistent finish and can help smaller spaces feel wider. They also work well alongside patios, raised beds, garden buildings and outdoor seating areas.
Some of the main benefits of horizontal fence panels include:
- Modern appearance: Clean horizontal lines create a contemporary finish that complements different garden styles.
- Greater sense of space: Horizontal slats draw the eye across the garden, helping smaller or narrower spaces feel wider.
- Privacy and screening: Double-sided panels offer more privacy, while single-sided panels let light and airflow through the gaps.
- Versatile design: Suitable for garden boundaries, patio screening, seating areas and dividing different parts of a garden.
- Durability: Pressure-treated timber helps protect against rot, fungal decay and insect damage.
Horizontal fence panels can also screen less attractive parts of a garden, such as bins, sheds, and storage areas, without needing a fully enclosed boundary.
Single and Double-Sided Horizontal Fence Panels
We manufacture two main styles of horizontal fencing, depending on the required finish and privacy.
Our single-sided slatted fence panels feature horizontal timber slats with small gaps between them. This allows light and air to pass through, making them a good choice for decorative boundaries and areas where complete privacy isn't necessary.
Our double-sided slatted fence panels have overlapping slats on both sides, providing greater privacy while maintaining the same horizontal appearance.
Both styles are available in a range of heights, making them suitable for everything from low garden screens to full-height boundary fencing.
Pressure-Treated Timber Fencing
All our horizontal fence panels are made from pressure-treated softwood, helping protect the timber from rot, fungal decay, and insect damage.
Pressure treatment is especially important for outdoor fencing, which is exposed to rain, moisture, and changing temperatures year-round.
Our panels also come with a 15-year guarantee against rot, so you can be confident you're investing in fencing designed for long-term outdoor use.
Like all natural timber, the colour will gradually change as the wood weathers. Regular cleaning and occasional maintenance can help keep your fencing looking its best.

Horizontal Fence Panel Sizes
Our horizontal fence panels have a standard width of 1800mm and are available in heights from 300mm to 1800mm.
Smaller panels are useful for decorative screening, raised boundaries and dividing different parts of a garden. Taller panels are generally better suited to perimeter fencing and areas where privacy is more important.
We also offer modular slatted fence panels, which are supplied in sections to make handling and installation easier.
Installing Horizontal Fence Panels
Our horizontal fence panels are designed to be fitted to the front of timber fence posts. This allows the slats to run across the face of the posts, creating a continuous finish along the fence line.
For gardens with existing concrete fence posts, our concrete post conversion kits provide an alternative to removing and replacing the posts, where the existing installation is suitable.
Before ordering, it's worth checking the measurements of your garden, the condition of any existing posts and the panel heights required.
